Orthodox Lutheran Father Quote of the Day

We said earlier (§ 67) that the apocryphal books of the Old Testament can be arranged into two classes. The former contains those that, by confession of the more reasonable Papists themselves, are apocryphal, though they are contained in the Greek or Latin codices of the Bible. The latter contains those that the Papists consider canonial, though they actually are apocryphal.

The apocryphal books of the former class:
3 and 4 Ezra
3 and 4 Maccabees
The Prayer of Manasseh
Psalm 151
The appendix to the Book of Job

The apocryphal books of the latter class:
The Book of Tobit
The Book of Judith
The seven last chapters of the Book of Esther
The Book of Wisdom
The additions of Daniel
The two Books of Maccabees
