Luther Quote of the Day

Hence it must be noted that

the world, or creation,  is twofold: visible, which He first made and then acted and worked with it. Here the making is before the working. For He who made every creature acts with it. For also these works of creation are rightly called “works of the Lord,” just as the creation is also the work of His hands.invisible,  intelligible through faith is the church, which is called the new heaven and the new earth. And here are God’s makings, apostles, prophets, teachers, as in 1 Cor. 12:28, like the individual parts of this world and the works of His hands, or the makings which He made. But the works or doings, by which He made them, are the works of virtues and especially of preaching. For the Word of God is the instrument by means of which He produced that making, as it says, “By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made” (Ps. 33:6), as also the first creation was made by the Word of God, as by the medium of doing.
